Love and Inspiration: An Artistic Valentine's Day. Lucio Oliveri

On Valentine's Day, love is celebrated not only with roses and chocolates but also for its inspiring power, which can turn cold steel into works of contemporary art. As a contemporary sculptor, I feel the magic of this transformation every day.

My work is driven by a love of art. It is the lifeblood that pushes me to experiment, to test the limits of the material and to tell stories through my contemporary sculptures in Italy. Yet there is another love, just as powerful, that is a source of my inspiration: my love for my wife.

She is my muse, my most honest critic, my source of comfort and support. The beauty of my creations is reflected in her eyes. Her love has given me confidence in myself and helped me overcome creative blocks.

As Italian sculptors devoted to contemporary art, we inherit a long tradition of passion and feeling. Think of Bernini, Canova and the other artists who portrayed love in all its facets, from tenderness to tragedy. It is this same heritage that I seek to carry on through my sculptures, which are full of feeling and of my own life experience.

This Valentine's Day, I invite you all to consider love as a source of inspiration. Work with love, whether for art, for family or for a dream, because that is where the truest, most beautiful and most unique creations are born.
